Sacred spaces for everyday homes

I’m not one to keep my home clean and tidy… I’m completely comfortable lazying around with toys strewn around a room…

But to be clear and focused I need a space that is functionally supportive to my mission.

My values and mission for this stage in my life… My Mother archetype is happy to have piles of laundry and toys around the home… they are marks of my craft, my acts of service in mothering my children.

But I’m not just a mother, I am also a woman.

There is a person under my service to my family and those parts of me must have space in my world for me to thrive.

This is what it means for me to claim space as a priestess of my home. Of my Motherhood.

To be able to hold space for the family, my children, my husband, my cooking, my home as well as holding space for my sacred connection to self.

To be able to hold space for the woman in me, I have had to come to terms with the mess of laundry and dishes waiting for me. If I put off my time for me, to keep up with chores I get no time for me and my creativity, my passions as the chores of motherhood never end.

My motherhood is a sacred stage of my evolution of self.

As a priestess I aim to embody a presence that is grounded, intuitive, purposeful, nurturing, perceptive of self and others, ambitious and driven as well as gracefully powerful in my influence as an ambassador for my values.

To be the priestess of your home you are holding a magickal container.

In my practice, this magickal container needs to have attributes of sacredness, protectiveness, boundaries and elements of both masculine and feminine energy.

I see Source, the Divine, Universal Energy as an entwined energy of Masculine and Feminine, Yin and Yang, Light and Dark, Fluid and Solid. It is a continuum that fades between the two polar points. And we all contain elements of it all, we thrive when we have a balance specific to our individual natures.

I’m not talking about Male and Female or genders here, we are all energy.

Our feminine energy is fluid, creative and soft holding space for nurturing presence, compassion, forgiveness and intuitive power and instinctual knowing and perceptions.

Our Masculine energy is solid, foundational, grounding and purposeful, ambitious and driven, protective and sturdy.

I believe we need both to hold space as the priestess of our lives.

Rhythm is a masculine structure that holds our feminine flow in a vessel of creativity, intuition and nurturing presence as well as keeping us accountable to our purpose and ambition.

My rhythm holds the space to clean the kitchen, make the foods, do the laundry, read to the kids, but it also holds a space for me to flow into my own world, connect with my own needs and hand over responsibility to my partner so that I can simply serve me for a spell.

The power of rhythm, over something rigid like a routine, is that rhythm is fluid. It is not tied down but has the ability to bend and flex - this is perfect when your tasks are interrupted by children’s needs and changed plans.

Your home as your altar - a devotional space of worship

A sacred space for your magickal workings - practices and rituals

What are the magickal workings that take place within your home?

This includes the way you speak to your children and partner and self. Words are spells and magickal workings…

I know that if you’re listening to me, you are most likely on a path of breaking cycles, and changing the way you raise your children. This involves a new way of speaking, casting intention into your children and how they feel about themselves.

Getting tasks done around the home, asking for help to tidy, making requests and setting expectations of needs and boundaries comes with intentional practice. We want to hold a perceptive, influential presence that commands from a seat of grace and calm power. I teach and model for my children the practice of  Non Violent Communication to support this intention.

The way you present your body, for yourself as well as for others, holds an energy of who you believe you are.

The way you dress your body - your wardrobe, the colours you wear and the style you choose or don’t choose impacts your energy.

You don’t have to have everything stylish and on point, those comfy trackies that make you feel so good and comforted - that's what’s important! If your clothes make you feel less than, get rid of them.

The way you care for your body impacts the way you carry your bodies energy - I know I get into depressive slumps where I haven’t showered or even brushed my teeth and pushing myself to just start, just do thirty seconds is enough to get me out of that loop.

When you add in simple rituals that nourish your skin and hair, natural organic oils and face massages you feel your energy glowing with reciprocation. You don’t need to wear makeup or get facials or waxing appointments, just focus on how you want to feel nourished in the skin you're in.

Your food and the way you prepare your food is a sacred ritual a magickal practice that infuses health and love for yourself and your family - gratitude and protection workings

Your meal times and the activities you do together, come together to sit at the table, set places and light a candle, ask the kids to set a centerpiece, it could be a flower in a jar or a crystal or a little clay statue they have crafted, open the space for sacred connection.

Are you surrounded by things of meaning or things that portray a persona you are trying to fit in with the world around you.

My values as a mother invites kids artwork covering the walls, my affirmations scrolled across the fridge, my windowsills adorned with crystals, seed pods, clay creations, candles, plant cuttings that are sprouting and oracle cards.

What are your passions what are you PLAYING with at the moment - can you see it in your LIVING space or is your living space for show.

Kids toys, project and art - if its a value to you then how can you showcase these

Your mantras and thought pieces, art and love notes to yourself.

Clutter verses creative mess - you define what your limits are and compromise with those you share the space with

Your home is your sanctuary - Safe space - protection and filled with light of love that protects from all energy that vibrates on lower frequencies

When I unboxed my spiritual self and expanded into living my truth, my altar came out of a box in my bedside table and grew into window sill altars, in the kitchen and bathroom and bedrooms, dressing table altars hall table altars.

Reminders of my sacred connection in every room.

Elements of Earth air, fire water and spirit activates the magick that is residing within - the relationships are the magick the power the connection!

A simple altar could be something from earth, air, fire, water and spirit. It could simply be a vase/jar of blessed water with a plant growing or a flower, a crystal, a photo, a feather or incense or a diffuser…

How are the elements represented in your home?

EARTH - reminders of your rhythm and your needs, your table for meals and your families grounded rituals, spaces for resting and safe retreats -  the nests that you nurture in.

AIR - what feeds your mind, books and writing and conversations

FIRE - signature colours and style thats present in your furnishings, your passions and projects and creativity and playing spaces like setting up colouring and card games by the dining table so that they are easily accessible for family connection.

WATER - Elements of emotional connection, your nests for snuggling together, as well as love notes, drawings, letters and art work reminders of your affirmations and memories

SPIRIT - ancestors and sacred markers for rituals like a candle or an affirmation deck at the dining table window sill altars and Nature markers like the big tree that remind you to breath and send your roots down deep .

You get to surround yourself in reminders of your sacred connection to self and to your loved ones. Your home is a sacred container that holds the magick of your connections. Don’t worry if there are toys strewn across the floor and piles of laundry to be folded, it’s nothing to be embarrassed by, and neither is your sacred connection to self.
