A Winter's Solstice Eve
The winter solstice is a time of cocooning for me.
An excuse for my introverted soul to retreat into deep contemplation. A time of working out what really brings me joy and spending time loving my shadow when I struggle to let the old ways die due to fears of what might be when I stand without them.
The Autumn came with the winds of change and stirred everything up, bringing consciousness to unmet needs and the martyred suffering to appease the pleaser within.
The portal opened with Samhain calling for the death of all that does not serve. Ushered to the Summerlands with our Ancestors as their guide.
And now we stand in the dark. That empty cavernous hole of feeling lost without what we were. Yet optimistic for the new to rise, despite the fear of unknowing it all right now.
There’s still apprehension in the air. A fog that asks us to wait, to trust.
We trust that the light will come. As it always cycles back around.
The dark is ruling for now… the longest night.
I do not resist and fight for more light within or deny the dark it’s place. I will not bypass this sacred time of rest. Without darkness of night we would not have the space to dream.
This time is a gift to know thyself deeper to love thyself fuller.
And just as the Tree needs this time to drop all leaves and send all energy to strengthening the roots. We too need this time to replenish.
As a family we need this time to move closer, understand each other from the core and that involves seeing the full range of feelings.
With unconditional love and acceptance for our full selves.
Winter dark is the cyclic womb, in which dark creation is forming.
Today, Mother is nurturing her soul, Father is given space to follow his passion. Kids are chasing their hearts in creative joy and play. Living intentionally side by side.
Today's Winter’s Solstice Eve is the perfect rainy day, so no backyard fire here tonight.
Our Winter’s Solstice is our Yule, a celebration of togetherness and gratitude to be able to give.
To circle round together, cosy on the couch for the tales of Mother Winter with our hot chocolates.
For tomorrow we call in the Light as we invite the Sun back into strength.
Reborn for a renewed year ahead.
