Session 2 - The Gut Connection: Functional Physiology for the roots of Family Health

Understand how gut health impacts everything from mood to immunity, and why it’s the foundation of wellbeing

The gut, immune system, skin, and brain are interconnected. Out gut includes the stomach, the small intestine, the large intestine and the gut wall.

The Microbiome is a vast ecosystem of bacteria, fungi, viruses, archaea. Its functions include digestion of fibre, production of short-chain fatty acids, balancing immunity and influencing neurotransmitters, skin health, hormones and even metabolism.

The gut has its own nervous system, called the “second brain” which communicates with the actual brain via the vagus nerve and chemical messengers; The Gut–Brain Axis.

The liver steps is the filter and detoxifier. “If the gut is the fortress wall, the liver is the customs office. When customs can’t keep up, things spill onto the skin”; The Gut-Skin Axis.

The gut trains the immune system: deciding what’s friend, what’s foe; The Gut-Immune Axis.

Functional Testing doesn’t replace intuition or mother’s knowing — it confirms it!

Every family is unique. I truly hope the sessions you’ve just watched / listened to are super helpful but, of course, they are general in nature.

My initial consult sessions are designed to give you personalised advice, based on a much more in-depth look at what’s going on for you and your family.

If you’d like tailored guidance, I’d love to help.
